While Marvel have been making some great movies lately, they struggled to get Hulk right before The Avengers. The 2003 Ang Lee Hulk movie was praised by critics but slammed by the fanboys. Eric Bana played the lead role in the movie and he insists that he is proud of the film, although he was glad that it did not get a sequel.
Eric told the Huffington Post, "I'm proud of what it tried to do. I apologize to all those people who were so angry about it...I'm fascinated by the people who hated that movie and feel compelled to watch it again, which always blows my mind. But, yeah, it is what it is and I certainly don't regret doing it."
Bana added, "I think I'm so lucky it didn't happen....One of the things I was most fearful of at the time is it being a huge success...If I had done three Hulks, it would have wiped out -- and it always takes a long time to do those movies -- so it would take six of my movies off the table."
Following the success of the Mark Ruffalo Hulk in the Joss Whedon The Avengers movie, fans have called for a new solo movie. Unfortunately, that is unlikely to happen any time soon and certainly not before we see Mark as Hulk again in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, which opens in 2015.
