Is Larsa Pippen, the wife of NBA Hall of Fame basketball player Scottie Pippen making a mistake in attempting to remain a celebrity family through the path of Reality TV shows? Larsa is very good friends with Kim Kardashian who has become a worldwide brand through her family's reality show but there is a major difference between the two families. Scottie Pippen is a Hall of Fame basketball player who is the leader of his family and is someone who will not tolerate becoming the subject of jokes throughout the entertainment industry let alone the world. Kim Kardashian and her family have exposed their lives to the world for the majority of their young adult lives and are very comfortable letting the world know everything about them. They do not fear ridicule of themselves, in many respects they swallow the ridicule similar to a piranha eating guppies placed in their aquarium.
Larsa Pippen is an ex-model whose husband achieved worldwide fame as a member of the Chicago Bulls and the 1992 US Olympic basketball "Dream Team". One would think that there are better ways for her to build the Pippen brand than by the proposed reality show "Big Pippen" which sounds as if one were to talk about a pimp rather than an esteemed basketball hall of fame player and the life of his family.
Many athletes upon completion of their careers write books about their lives and sometimes provide details that the entertaiment industry finds so fascinating that late night and daytime television hosts start interviewing them about the contents of the book and this then sometimes will lead to a television or radio show or even a movie career. This might be a better way to build the "Pippen" brand rather than a reality show as the market for these type of shows seems to have reached the point of oversaturation.
Sometimes people have to realise that a business strategy that can work for one family may not be appropriate for their own. Larsa Pippen and her entertainment advisors need to consider other entertainment ideas by which they can build the Pippen brand other than the reality show idea. The reality show format has contributed to three divorces within the Kardashian family and a fourth might be on the way. A book based on her life as a basketball wife or some aspect similar to what Holly Robinson-Peete did might be a better way to build both the brand of Larissa Pippen and that of her husband, Scottie Pippen. Imitation may be the greatest form of flattery but in life people have to choose the career direction that is best for them and not that which was best for someone else.
