Flowers in the Attic is one of the most novels and movies from the '80s, and is currently being remade into a TV movie releasing in 2014. The film stars Kiernan Shipka, Heather Graham, and Ellen Burstyn, and is one of the most anticipated TV movies coming out next year.
The official synopsis of the film is, "Pretty blonde ballet dancer Cathy lives in suburbia with her perfect, post-war nuclear family — until tragedy strikes and her doe-eyed mother Corrine forces them to move in with her overbearing parents. In the film, Ellen Burstyn plays the evil, vindictive grandmother who rains punishment on Cathy, her mother and her siblings."
The film also features a forbidden love affair, and is very popular with teenage girls, as many stories with forbidden love affairs are wont to do. Of course, there's no guarantee that the film will do well, but considering it's showing on Lifetime and the film's based on such a wildly popular novel, it's hard to imagine it not doing well.
