Leighton Meester and Gillian Jacobs star in the upcoming 'Life Partners', a unique comedy about two best friends that make an unconventional agreement regarding marriage. Leighton's character is a free-wheeling lesbian whereas Jacobs' character is a Type A brainiac, and Jacobs' character agrees that she won't get married until Leighton's character is given the same right. Unfortunately, all hell breaks loose when Adam Brody's character comes into the mix.

Leighton Meester is best known for Gossip Girl
The film was first conceived as a play, and the filmmakers ended up creating a feature-length version which was actually inspired by some of their own lives. They had initially planned for Evan Rachel Wood and Kristen Bell to play the two lead roles, but they went to Leighton Meester and Gillian Jacobs when Evan and Kristen ended up getting pregnant.
The film's already screened at several film festivals, with Leighton getting the most rave reviews for her performance. Obviously, she's the biggest draw out of the star cast due to her time on Gossip Girl and her multiple feature credits. Magnola Pictures already acquired the rights to the film, and although they haven't set a release schedule, the plan is to unfurl it slowly.

Leighton Meester stars in Life Partners
Life Partners will also be opening the 32nd annual Outfest Los Angeles LGBT Film Festival, and it will screen on July 10th. Other films screening at Outfest include Space Station 76 with Matt Bomer, and Boulevard with Kathy Baker and Robin Williams.
In addition to starring Leighton Meester and Gillian Jacobs, this is the second time that Leighton and Adam have teamed up on-screen, since the first time was 'The Oranges', where they reportedly fell in love. They're now married, and when asked about their plans to work together again, they are quite enthusiastic about the idea. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll see them play love interests, but don't count out the idea of them being in the same movie.
