Mark Ruffalo had a great acting year in 2014 as two of his films have garnered him recognition from the film industry. He received a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for his performance in the movie "Foxcatcher" and he was awarded the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries for his acting in the movie "The Normal Heart".
Unfortunately for the ultra-talented actor he was unable to attend the SAG Awards gala because he is working on the film "Now You See Me: The Second Act" in London, England but he did not let the distance prevent him from providing a acceptance speech for the award or show fans his SAG Awards fashion.
"The Normal Heart" star upon being awoken by his wife and children and informed that he had won the SAG Award quickly typed up and posted on his Twitter page an acceptance speech in which he thanked his co-star Matt Bomer and gave the award to those fans who lived through the AIDS crisis and lost people they loved (Daily Mail - January 26). He also made sure to thank his wife and children after which he posted a picture to Instagram of himself smiling and unshaved while he lay in his bed in his pyjamas.
Some fans and entertainment observers noted how his being in London is an example of his dedication to his craft. Winning an award as prestigious as a SAG Award is no small achievement and many other actors would have refused to miss the gala after being nominated. However Mark Ruffalo decided that it was more important to be in London to be ready for the filming of his next movie even though he had earned the honour of being nominated for his work in "The Normal Heart".
Mark Ruffalo is an actor who looks like he is on the path to becoming one of the next true Hollywood 'acting' superstars and as such is someone who might want to prepare another speech just in case his family has to wake him for an announcement at the 2015 Academy Awards.
