Most celebrities live very busy and hectic lives. On top of that, often their privacy is constantly invaded by media and paparazzi, even when they're inside their own homes. It's no wonder they feel the need to run off for expensive vacations that take them far from the reaches of civilized society. In just a few years, many celebs may find they can take a vacation that gives a whole new meaning to "getting away from it all".
Orbital Technologies, a Russian aerospace firm, plans to begin offering hotel stays in space sometime in 2016 for the low price of just $1 million, which includes round-trip airfare aboard a private Soyuz rocket. That's right - for less than what most big-name stars make on one movie, they could spend five nights in a space hotel. Just imagine the rest and relaxation they could get while cruising above the planet - not to mention the amazing views.
Of course, they'll have to do without many amenities they're used to. While they'll have the choice of sleeping vertically, thanks to the lack of gravity, menu and drink choices won't be as varied as they're used to. Food will be cooked on Earth for guests to microwave once they're on board the hotel. Current anticipated options include veal, potato soup, and desserts such as plum compote. No alcohol will be allowed for obvious reasons, but celebs can have all the iced tea, mineral water, and fruit juice they want. Rooms will also include a very small bathroom with a single shower for washing up, and flowing air toilets.
The hotel makes up for what it lacks in the way of amenities with amazing views, however. Guests will be furnished with binoculars and cameras so they can take pictures showing off their amazing out of this world vacation. Imagine the TwitPics they could send fans from space!
